This is about the forth transparent metal I've read about, each with a different use.

Yep, it's neat stuff. In this case I think the metal is not transparent in bulk, but only when specially patterned on the microscale to interact with light a certain way. Still, I can imagine all sorts of great applications — including making the roof of a space colony act as a giant active display.
