We’re pleased to announce version 0.07 of the High Frontier video game!
This version adds the following new features:
- Info panels now provide much more whole-colony design analysis when no part is selected. Just click on the background to deselect the current part, and then check out the colony’s overall stability, radiation, gravity levels, etc.
- Info panels now display a warning icon on parameters that are out of the generally safe or recommended range. This should help alert you when the radiation or gravity is too high, stability is too low, etc. Click on the icon to view more detail.
- The Squawker feed is now maintained on a per-colony basis, so if you switch from one colony to another, you don’t get confused about who’s squawking about what.
- Attaching a part now automatically applies the spin rate of the thing you’re attaching it to.
And of course, we’ve also spent the last week building some internal colony management prototypes, which have progressed substantially even since that video was made a couple days ago. We’ll keep you posted on those as they develop.
On a personal note, you probably know that High Frontier is developed by Strout and Sons… well it so happens that one of those sons, Kevin, turns 14 years old today. Yesterday he was adding a feature to High Frontier; today he’s having cake. Wish him a happy birthday in the comments!
